~* GENERAL NOTICE *~
Everything is still lying in a puddle of primeval soup so some things probably don't make much sense but I hope the world isn't -too- lame and nonsensical (buries head in shame)!
QUICK RUN-DOWN
A young courier from is assigned to make a special delivery that takes her back to the Old City and but the task turns out to be something more sinister.
At the same time, spirits have begun to come out of hiding, and their contact with humanity has been having some really strange side effects...

Context
- Region: Central Asia
- Set in a post-apocalyptic universe, at a time where civilisation is at a peak once again since the apocalypse
(which happened a few centuries ago). Details regarding life pre-apocalypse are sketchy and most of what constitutes history
and knowledge is based on witness accounts (most of which are probably fabricated) and findings of material created
pre-apocalypse
No one really knows what caused it but a lot of popular theories in circulation form the folk tales/myths & legends of the ages - Most people live in underground cities but more are beginning to migrate to the surface, exploring new regions (via scouting parties)
and settling in 'safe zones'. However most parts of the world are still too dangerous to be inhabited - It is unknown whether anyone exists in anywhere other than Central Asia because no contact has been established yet
- People are tracing ancient trade routes and using them as roads once again. As trade is picking up swiftly, these routes are being used
once again to link cities and expand into unknown territories, mimicking the ancient routes that existed many years before;
those that linked the east and the west.
Life Underground
I HAVEN'T DRAWN IT OUT YET SO SOME PICS ^ (FROM THE KOWLOON WALL) SHOULD SUFFICE
Housing
- Many found their new homes underground during conflict, and extensive cities have been built underground with the assistance of
extremely gifted engineers in order to tackle the general problems of overheating, poisonous underground gases, stability and cave-ins, etc.
These cities often have a high population density (similar to the Kowloon Walled City) and governance is a very fragile business
(revolts are quite common). Many existing subways stations have been expanded to host large populations. - Blast doors separate cities and interchange areas offer mobility between cities
- Living conditions are generally quite poor and cramped, most houses are simple shacks
- Delicacies such as cow, sheep, generally meat, can be hard to come across (especially underground), thus the sight of
mutant (abnormally large) insects being eaten is not uncommon; insects are a very sustainable food due to their ability to reproduce
quickly in large numbers and can also be packed in tight spaces without feeling stressed; they also offer high protein values,
making them a very nutritious food.
- Though not quite the pinnacle of a fully globalised world, racial origins are generally blurred and mixed, although most lean towards
Asiatic descent.
- Lots of underground organisations have sprung up in these settlements, each with their own motives
- Some have been created to provide essential services that have otherwise not been provided due to the absence of a
central governing system.
An example is the postal delivery service that delivers most packages (for a certain fee of course) to almost anywhere. - VERY RAMPANT UNDERGROUND (AND ABOVE-GROUND) DRUG TRADE, propagated by many crime syndicates and drug cartels.
The shared desire for the possession and control of the drug and narcotics market has generated lots of on-going blood feuds - Very lucrative business for the wealth it brings
- There is no overall law and order to control this, thus many other underground organisations serve as vigilantes, administering their
own sense of justice in absence of an overriding force to control them. - They are known collectively as ~VIGILS~
Above Ground
Looks something like this directly on top of the city.
Still pretty dense but not as dense as below ground heh.
